SA2 Update - New Rehearsal Space! (Posted - 11/5/2012)
Beginning Mon. Nov. 19, String Academy 2 will be rehearsing at Roosevelt Middle School! SA2 families should refer to the letter brought home today and to emails sent out with detailed information!
The rehearsals will be held in the band and orchestra room at Roosevelt MS located at 680 East 24th Avenue (located across the street from the back of SEHS). Please use the entrance west of the main entrance off of the first parking lot on 24th (next to the soccer fields.)
This change, though not coming at the ideal time, is a wonderful opportunity for our ensemble to rehearse in a bigger space (we had outgrown our current space) and a space already configured for an orchestra!
Thank you RMS for welcoming SA2 and thank you families for making this important change!
AU Musicians Play On for the Play-A-Thon (Posted - 10/8/2012)
It's time once again for the annual Play-A-Thon! String Academy 2, Little Symphony and Junior Orchestra members are out collecting pledges and donations for minutes they practice from Oct. 8-Oct 20. Conductors say it's a great way to start the year focusing on increased practicing. It's a win-win for everyone with funds raised going directly to AU programs! Please sponsor an orchestra student who is "playing on for the play-a-thon".
Master Class with Master Musician (Posted - 9/20/2012)
Another exciting visit for Arts Umbrella Musicians!
On Friday, Sept. 21 members of the Little Symphony and Junior Orchestra string section will gather for a master class with renowned violinist Bing Wang who will be in Eugene as guest soloist for the Eugene Symphony concert with John Williams on Saturday Sept 22. Bing Wang is Associate Concertmaster of the Los Angeles Philaharmonic Orchestra and is on the teaching staff at USC where she works with Midori. Bing comes to Arts Umbrella at the urging of Midori to continue the outreach to our musicians and we are so grateful to both of these amazing artsists for their time with our youth!

Another no-cost way to support AU (Posted - 2/10/2010)
What if Arts Umbrella earned a donation every time you searched the Internet? Or how about if a percentage of every purchase you made online went to support our cause? Well, now it can!
GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates half its advertising revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. Use it just as you would any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!
GoodShop.com is a new online shopping mall which donates up to 30 percent of each purchase to your favorite cause! Hundreds of great stores including Amazon, Target, Gap, Best Buy, ebay, Macy's and Barnes & Noble have teamed up with GoodShop and every time you place an order, you'll be supporting your favorite cause.
And if you download the GoodSearch – Arts Umbrella toolbar, our cause will earn money every time you shop and search online - even if you forget to go to GoodShop or GoodSearch first! Add the Arts Umbrella toolbar at http://www.goodsearch.com/toolbar/arts-umbrella
