Nancy Golden Named AU Campaign Chair (Posted - 8/24/2011)

On Tuesday, August 23, Arts Umbrella announced the naming of Nancy Golden as chair of the organization’s 2011-2012 HeartStrings fundraising campaign. An award-winning educator and superintendent of the Springfield School District, Golden is a passionate supporter of arts education. Dr. Golden, along with the Arts Umbrella Board of Directors and staff, kicked off the HeartStrings campaign at a Tuesday night opening event; a concert featuring the Amelia Piano Trio. The Trio incloudes Anthea Kreston on violin, Youth Symphony conductor Jason Duckles on cello, and U of O Profressor Emeritus Victor Steinhardt on piano.

“I think it’s really easy to see why I want to be the chair this year,” Dr. Golden said to an audience of around 60 at the Tuesday night concert, “I know that arts matters to our students and that Arts Umbrella is the perfect partner to ensure that our students – all our students – get an opportunity to really gain the skills for a wonderful life and be competitive when they go on to consider their careers.”

Arts Umbrella’s HeartStrings campaign helps the organization maintain, improve, and enhance its current programs, while providing the organization with opportunities to implement new programs to meet the growing needs of the community.
