Eugene Youth Symphony
The Eugene Youth Symphony presents some of the greater Eugene/Springfield area's finest student musicians in exciting concerts featuring outstanding soloists and demanding orchestral music. All qualified musicians through age 21 may audition annually for membership. The Eugene Youth Symphony is the second oldest youth symphony west of the Mississippi and is conducted by Dr. Jason Duckles.
The Eugene Youth Symphony meets Monday evenings between 6:45 and 9:00 p.m. in the Band Room at South Eugene High School. The participation fee is $420. Assistance with participation fees is available. Auditions are held annually in the spring and fall. Eugene Youth Symphony concerts feature a variety of exciting repertoire and featured student soloists.
THIS YEAR ONLY! - - Arts Umbrella is pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity for students in our 2011-2012 orchestras and String Academies. In April of 2012, famed violinist, Midori Goto, visits Eugene as part of her Orchestra Residencies Program.. As a part of this visit, Midori will hold a Q&A session with students in Arts Umbrella orchestras, visit String Academy classes, hold rehearslas and sectionals with the Eugene Youth Symphony, and perform in a live Super Strings concert at the Hult Center with members of the Eugene Youth Symphony, the Douglas County Youth Orchestra, the Corvallis Youth Symphony, and the Eugene Symphony. This will be an exciting week and we are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our 2011-2012 students!
